Community Welfare

The Community Welfare is working towards the de-stigmatization of psychiatric disorders, the creation of awareness, focusing on family and community mental health programs, and funding mental health care projects, primarily in rural and semi-urban areas in India.

Completed Projects

Global Autism Convention: was held in Bangalore, India from May 19 - 21 2011. This was a unique initiative spearheaded by Rotary District 3190 in collaboration with many organizations with the specific purpose of creating a global network of interested families, professionals, organizations and Rotary Clubs to collectively address the complex needs of persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders. A wide range of topics from medical management, educational intervention, allied therapies and assistive technology were addressed by leading experts from India and outside. Anuradha Foundation was a sponsor of the convention.

CHAITHANYA: a community mental health rehabilitation project located in Bangalore city. It is a sheltered workshop whose mission is to rehabilitate mentally ill patients back to their family and society. The project was funded for three years from 2008- 2011.

GASS (Grameena Abyudaya Seva Samsthe): a community mental health project which covers 2 semi-urban/rural districts in Karnataka, Koratagere and Gowribidanur. This project offers real hope with the village elders and panchayat having got involved in it. The project was funded for five years from 2005-2010.

SAMPARK: a community mental health project in the remote northern Karnataka district of Koppal with marginalized Devdasis (sex workers) who have psychiatric disorders. The project was funded for five years from 2005-2010.

St. John's Medical College Hospital: a project covering the neuro-psychopharmacological aspects of medications and their effectiveness in Anekal Taluk. The two year project was completed in December 2007. Publication of the findings will be released shortly.
